What IS Oxygen Therapy?

Oxygen-Bar.jpg

You've likely heard hype around Infrared Saunas before, but maybe you've never learned why.

While models and everyday folks are getting in on the sweaty trend, you might be wondering whether or not these saunas are actually worth the hype.

And hey, you're not alone. As with any highly touted treatment, it's sensible to consider whether or not the benefits are actually real or just a figment of an influencer's paid for reality.

What is it?

Oxygen in our O2 Therapy System is not kept under pressure nor is it administered from a tank. If anyone offers this service to you in the U.S., they are breaking the law because it would then be considered medical oxygen.

Our oxygen is produced by oxygen concentrators (generators) which take the ambient air that we breathe every day and separates the nitrogen from this ambient air with a molecular filter. Most of the nitrogen is expelled during this cycle and the oxygen is concentrated and pushed out of the machine through a tube which is attached to the Aromarizer, which holds water and the all-natural, essential, therapeutic-grade aromas. In turn, the bottles bubble when turned on and oxygen is forced into the bottle which has another open ended tube on it. Nasal cannulas are connected to that tube while the user breathes normally.

Oxygen is a vital element to good health and it’s our primary source of energy. 90% of our energy comes from oxygen and the other 10% comes from food and water. Inhaling oxygen enriched air (OEA), the body will metabolize food more efficiently and generate more energy, create a healthier body, and just make you feel better.

Athletes all agree oxygen increases their performance, endurance, and energy level. Athletes require tremendous amounts of oxygen to convert carbohydrates, sugars, fats and proteins into heat and energy required for their high activity level. This conversion process is known as oxidation, and what is oxidized (or burned) for the body’s energy are carbohydrates, sugars, fats and proteins. Without the presences of oxygen, these foods would oxidize very poorly resulting in a poor cellular reproduction and function, which would cause an inadequate production of energy.

Since oxygen is the main fuel required to oxidize your carbohydrates, sugars, fats and proteins into energy, a lack of oxygen will promote an inadequate oxidation process (poor burning of foods), which will result in a lower percentage of your foods being converted into energy and high percentage of your foods turning into fat.

Just a five to ten minute session on our oxygen therapy displaces harmful free radicals, neutralizes environmental toxins, and destroys anaerobic infectious bacteria, parasites and microbes. Oxygen gives the body the ability to rebuild itself, detoxifies blood, increases circulation and strengthens the immune system. Oxygen will heighten concentration, alertness and help fight off depression. Oxygen has been known to help with relaxation and sleep disorders, prevent disease, relieve hangovers, and alleviate headaches.

The bottom line — “Oxygen is an element that you can live with” and exercise with. You can live three weeks without food, you can live three days without water, try to live three minutes without Oxygen!

What are the Benefits?

CIRCULATION

It is well known that oxygen plays a key role in every cellular process. It supports the immune system, destroys toxic substances, fuels metabolism, and promotes new cell growth. In 1926, in fact, Nobel Prize winner, Dr. Otto Warburg of Berlin, announced that the cause of cancer was lack of oxygen at the cellular level.

Oxygen therapy increases oxidation in the body and can neutralize toxic substances and kill invading microorganisms.

DEPRESSION

Everyone feels “blue” once in a while, but when depression deepens or persists for a long time, it can suppress your energy for living and make you more vulnerable to disease by dampening the immune system. Depression is sometimes a warning that may help you to protect your mental and physical health. It can be viewed as a signpost, signaling “It’s time for a change.”

The first thing a depressed person stops doing is moving. Exercise becomes intolerable. Just a few minutes time breathing oxygen (with a citrus aroma) can lift that feeling of depression, giving you that chemical balance that is needed to feel well and be well. Oxygen will improve circulation, sending invigorating oxygen to your brain and all your muscles. Oxygen will flush toxins from the body as well.

Often depression sneaks in slowly, as breathing patterns change from too much sitting at a desk, stress, age, or illness. Only 10 minutes of pure oxygen will bring a breath of fresh air to the brain and other parts of the body. Like a spring wind, it blows through the system bringing new light and strength to the unused parts of the body and mind where depression hides.

HEADACHES

The way in which oxygen inhalation reduces headache pain is unknown. Researchers have shown that there is an increased blood flow in the brain in both cluster and migraine headaches, although both headaches do not have the same degree of increased flow. It has been shown that oxygen causes a marked decrease in cerebral blood flow that is coincident with the reduced degree of pain in cluster headache.

SLEEP

Sleep plays an important role in your physical health. Sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is associated with an increased threat of congenital heart disease, kidney disease, hypertension, diabetes, and stroke. Sleep deficiency also increases the danger of obesity. One study of teenagers showed that with each hour of sleep lost, the odds of becoming obese went up. Sleep deficiency increases the risk of obesity in other age groups.

Sleep serves to help sustain a healthy balance of the hormones that make you feel hungry (ghrelin) or full (leptin). When you don’t get enough sleep, your level of ghrelin climbs and your level of leptin lessens. This makes you feel hungrier than when you’re well-rested. Sleep also affects how your body reacts to insulin, the hormone that controls your blood glucose (sugar) level. Sleep deficiency brings about a greater than normal glucose level, which may increase your risk for diabetes.

If you don’t get enough sleep, it could hinder healthy growth and development. Deep sleep brings about the body to discharge the hormone that promotes customary growth in youngsters and teens. This hormone also boosts muscle mass and helps repair cells and tissues in children, teens, and adults. Sleep also contributes in puberty and fertility.

Your body immune system counts on sleep to stay healthy. This system defends your body against foreign or unsafe substances. Ongoing sleep deficiency can change the method which your body immune system reacts. If you’re sleep deficient, you may have trouble fighting common infections.

Patients characterize their fatigue as oppressive – a long term, widespread weariness that seems to penetrate every cell. Patients with poor sleep patterns usually have to deal with an entire constellation of symptoms, including severe fatigue, amnesia, trouble concentrating, recurrent flu-like illness, low-grade fever, severe muscle aches and neurological problems. Many sleepless patients who look for aid with sleep apnea have relied on breathing oxygen, as a daily regime, to relieve the stress and everyday toxins that have been accumulating in their bodies during the course of the day.

Oxygen aromatherapy can serve to relax your body and mind and make them more responsive to sleeping. This intensely relaxed state is not only a harbinger to sleeping, but it also will have a positive effect on enabling you stay asleep and have a peaceful night.

MEMORY

Loss of memory befalls the brain when it has poor circulation of blood and insufficient cerebral vascular activity. When brain cells do not receive enough oxygen and nutrients, memory breaks down and fails. Fortunately, memory loss can be improved or even reversed with proper nutrition. Certain essential elements can support a healthy, well-nourished brain.

Oxygen has been proven in studies to support improved memory retention and better concentration. This is due to its ability to boost blood flow to the brain and improve neurotransmitter production.

CANCER

All normal cells have an absolute requirement for oxygen, but cancer cells can live without oxygen – a rule without exception. Deprive a cell 60% of its oxygen and it will turn cancerous. Deprive a cell 35% of its oxygen for 48 hours and it may become cancerous. – Dr. Otto Warburg.

People with various degenerative diseases are often found to have low venous oxygen saturation. Once they receive proper treatment, the venous oxygen saturation level rises and their health and vitality improve dramatically.

WEIGHTLOSS

Overweight people have a more difficult time exercising, often are plagued with a slower metabolism and seem to feel hungry all the time. Of course, there are other factors but these seem to stand out more than anything else.

Oxygen increases circulation and speeds up your metabolism. Speeding up your metabolism will of course burn more calories. The human body is sometimes called an “oxygen factory.” Oxygen is the fuel that permits cellular processes to work. Low blood oxygen levels could indicate disease or something going wrong in your body. If the oxygen levels to cells drops, the message to our brain is “feed us.” If 90% of our energy is derived from oxygen, and the other 10% is derived from food and water, does it make sense that if we take in more O2, the less hungry we would feel?

We do not have scientific studies to back up our findings, but the effects of aromatherapy coupled with oxygen are well known.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy has been used for centuries and is an important tool for any holistic medical practitioner. Our sense of smell and the use of various essential oils to influence what we smell can have a profound effect on our overall health and well-being. It cannot effect our mood, energy levels, breathing, metabolism and most importantly in this case, our appetite. Some aromas will make you hungry even when you really have no need to eat. Smell that freshly baked apple pie and you want a slice. But what aromas can I use to suppress my hunger? Breathing oxygen flavored with almond, peppermint and eucalyptus suppressed or relieved the feeling of hunger from most “oxygen bar goers” appetites. How can this be? Many modern medicines are derived from plants. Pharmaceutical companies spend a fortune researching the effects of plants on disease and symptom relief. The natural essential oils we use are derived from plants and their effects have been well known long before there was documented studies.

You must also keep in mind that aromatherapy can have a significant effect on mood. Many people eat out of anger, frustration and anxiety. In simple terms – STRESS. Aromatherapy with oxygen and the proper choice of an essential oil or aroma, will help relieve stress. It has a well-known calming effect on the body and mind. The mental push for oral gratification is subdued. That is why it is used for not only weight loss but smoking cessation programs as well.
